For our mental health, we should sometimes also look at how far we’ve come. We need to look at how far we’ve come and realize that just getting this far is a big deal.
The journey is important, too, and that includes each step along the way.
Being ready to look back and celebrate the big moments can help you bounce back from setbacks because you know that each one is only temporary.
There are also health reasons to be happy about success.
When you celebrate and feel successful, your body go through chemical changes. It makes your brain produce chemicals called endorphins, which make you feel good.

There may also be times when you are happy where you are and don’t want to change.
But even then, you’re likely to have small and big successes to celebrate, both at work and in your personal life.
Many of us are happy just to have made it through the week, and that’s fine.

How to Celebrate a Job Well Done
Just as different people have different ideas about what it means to be successful, so do the ways we choose to celebrate.
This is fine, but you should be aware that how you celebrate may affect how motivated you are to keep going.
Especially if you decide to give yourself a material reward and especially if you offer yourself a bribe (that is, you tell yourself that if you do something, you can have a reward), you may find it harder the next time to do what you need to do without a reward.
In other words, giving a reward is a type of motivation that comes from outside you. This is not as powerful as doing something because you want to, which is called intrinsic motivation.
There are many ways to celebrate things that help or provide intrinsic motivation.
Think about what you did well and what you could do better next time
Including other people, especially if they helped you do well, this reminds you that it’s hard to do things on your own.
Everyone likes to be thanked, so this will also make the group stronger and make it more likely that everyone will work well together next time.
Take the time to do something you enjoy, like going for a walk, watching the sunset, or just hanging out with people you care about.

Taking the time to celebrate success can be hard, but it is important to do so for a number of reasons.
If you only think about the bad things, like what you haven’t done, instead of what you have, you tend to feel very down.
